Happy 2014 to one and all

Oscar the Eagle-Owl and friends at Bowness TIC
Hi everyone!

I've been away from the blog due to having no internet access for over a month. However, I'm now back online and eager to get posting again.

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everybody a happy, healthy and successful 2014.

I hope you like this photo of the owls from Wise Owl World outside Bowness Bay Tourist Information Centre. You can follow the owls on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/wiseowlworld

Charity shop find: Bumper bag of yarn!

I'm not a knitter, nor a crocheter. However my eyes lit up when I spied this bag of yarn in my favourite charity shop a few weeks ago.

At only £1.00 it was a bargain too good to miss!

I don't know very much about wool, but I can see some of it is tapestry yarn. Some appears to leftovers from the previous owners projects wound into balls, and the remainder is a tangled mess. I'm going to have some fun unravelling it later today!

So if I don't knit, why did I buy it? Well, I can use it with my French knitting spool (or Knitting Nancy if you prefer), and it's just the ticket for practising on a cool little retro craft gadget I picked up in another charity shop a couple of weeks ago (more on that in a future post).

I hope you enjoyed the first post in my charity shop finds series. Keep tuned for more!

I won! I won!

Back in August I received an unexpected jiffy bag in the post. When I opened it I was delighted to find I had won some lovely Gutermann seed beads in a Making Jewellery magazine giveaway.

It really made me smile as seed beads are my favourite type of beads!

I've used some in a necklace and found them to be superb quality. I love the colours, and the containers are cute too.

Thank you Gutermann and Making Jewellery magazine!
